Brasilien vs Croatien

Nothin too exciting about that match though it was still good to catch it at Shlossplatz. The place was almost packed. More to view were the people. The brasiliens in their outrageously sexy outfits...

Blunder

Oops..World Cup starts today or rather yesterday at 6pm and Deutschland WON!!!! YAYYYYY!!!

I was at shossplazt and thousands of pple were there watching the big screen live game.It was amazing!!!! Everytime Germany scores, pple scream and sing and dance around. The culture is just uncomparable to Singapore!

Just by standing there, one will think Deutschland is going to win WM 2006! Well I think they did well the first match. They were under a lot of pressure being in the first play and the host. Almost everyone in Germany bought scarfs, hats, whistles and flags to wear!!!

After the match, the streets were all jammed as all the cars came out to celebrate by honking!! Drivers were blasting their honks at every crossing and my whole town went crazy for a while. I cant imagine how is it like in Munich and during the last match in Berlin!

The English is set to play today so I think its going to be worst (or better??) Policeman are all on red alert in case of any unrest! I dun think there will be any riots after the game since its Stuttgart! I still want to go shopping and buy my camera! (I found a Casio 6MP for 300 sing dollars!!)

Ok got to make a call to Singapore now....tschuss!

WM 2006

Welt Mieisterschaft 2006!! Germany is going into chaotic!

Today is the eve of the start and thers going to be lotsa partying around!

Already in the newspaper, reports of major celebration venues have been published to inform the public!

Here in Stuttgart, one of the main Hoo Hah places is at ShossPlatz, infront of the grand palace. Theres a mega size screen with an incredible bazzar. (Nicer and more stalls than our Pasar Malam!) I've seen them setting up and it looks set to be a crazy place for the month! (I've even saw a stall selling steamed lobsters.Incredible!)

The whole city is decking up with Deustschland Flags, Banners etc etc..One of my classmate from Canada even dyed his hair in Black Red & Yellow-Germany's Flag colors!! I am probably going to spray my hair and draw on my face with the rest of my coursemates and my German Language teacher! The countdown is almost killing me. I'm seriously looking forward to the start of World Cup 06!

Other cities are too, almost exploding with the influx of fussball fanz. Especially Munich where the first match will be played. I went to visit the stadium and its beautiful! Will upload the photos as soon as possible (I've put some up on my multiply site!)

My camera broke down so I'm tryin to get a new one today. Well, hope I find a good deal!

Its either the weather or the tap water I've been drinking that's been giving me this persistent throat infection.Yikes. And I have to miss class today cause I felt terrible in the morning..=(

ShossPlatz - City hall

Some of our German frens brought us to a student house party last nite. Its right at the top of a dormitory in the downtown campus and its been running weekly for 50 yrs. It was really fun as it was all students and the beers were really cheap too!

There a Sommer Fest tonight below my block. Hopefully it wont rain and the wind is not so strong. The harsh weather here has been killing all the BBQs and parties for the summer.

ok its time for wursts and more shopping. Ciaoz

Finally I hav Internet Connection!!

PICT0013.JPGmy apartment block

Since the office only opens on Mons & Thurs for an hour at 6pm, I've been running around with a few other students tryin to get out computer hooked up to the LAN. Well, after much begging and a rather large payout, they decided the incumbent SHALL BE allowed unto the network!!!

The efficiency here kind of puzzles me. I dont understand why offices only opens an hour each day at some werid timing where I will be in my downtown campus. I also don't understand why the pple in the offices do not like to tell us All the info at a go, and make us run back n forth several times to get a simple thing done...

Alrite enuf of the boring stuff. So heres a quick recap of some interesting and fun stuff that has happened!

Went Black forest on Sun. Yes. Thats right! They invented the Black Forest Cake there.. The authentic ones are humongous. Almost thrice the size of a normal cake in Singapore. The weather was really bad that morning and I skipped the outdoor tour and went for a nice brunch. Our German frens brought us next to a place further down where Cuckoo Clocks are produced. Its really quite a sight to see so many clocks with birds cuckooing at the same time.

On Mon, I had a ZUPER German lesson. Our teacher actually sent us out into the city to practice our German! We had to do a short interview with some Germans and ask them simple questions like "whats your name", "where do u come from" etc. My group went to the most challenging venue - City Hall Train Station!!

It was a little nerve wrecking cause everyone's rushing and few looked friendly enough to be approached. But everything turned out quite well and though half the time we cant understand what the interviewee was sayin, we did manage to get down the answers we need!

Its nearly 1am now. So its time for bed. Will be back to do more updates~Guten Nacht!

P.S I will try to put up the photos soon. Not too sure how to include my flicker link onto this travel blog. Hopefully I can get it done by the week...
